Down for Dominica

Fresh, Lush, Vibrant and ohhhhh soooooooo Green. Dominica (DOM-ih-NEE-kə) is a total gem.

On my recent trip to Dominica, I was invited on a FAM trip to check out the stunning Secret Bay Hotel. A FAM trip is a “familiarization trip” when you travel with other Travel Agents, oftentimes hosted by a hotel and a representation company, to checkout the hotel and destination. Karen Bull with Island Luxe Resorts was hosting and she is my FAV.  The flight in was interesting, not a deterrent, just interesting for the nervous flyer like me 🙂 Think St. Barths runway (super small) while landing in Jurassic Park…so we got to hug the mountain super close as we took a sharp u turn to then drop down to land on the strip of a runway. Thankfully my new found friend sitting next to me was also a nervous flyer, so instead of just the normal hand holding for take off – we held hands the entire 3 hour plane ride 🙂 yay!

Upon arrival at the nature island we were greeted by our @secretbay hosts and I was so excited to be there!! We were offered water, dried fruit treats and then we were off to Secret Bay. A gorgeous drive, winding around the island, you are able to see snippets of the daily lives of the people that live there and the beauty that surrounds. Cliffs, greenery, water, breezes and fresh air are all around. After an hour ish ish drive from the airport we had arrived!!! A totally cool minimal entrance followed by a welcome reception.

Secret Bay is “a six-star all-villa rainforest resort experience, featuring secluded clifftop residential-style villas with private plunge pools, dedicated villa hosts, on-call concierge, chefs and guides, secret beaches and transformative experiences curated just for you.” It is a @relaischateaux hotel and it shows. Peaceful, stunning, inspiring and so exciting! Perf for couples, a getaway with friends, a solo adventure or group trip. It is a must!

After enjoying a refreshing welcome mocktail, I was whisked away onto the funicular that took me up to my villa!! A 2 bedroom villa, with 2 full baths, a full kitchen, balcony and private plunge pool. The villa is so cool. Total treehouse vibe. Chill, romantic, exciting and peaceful. I loved it. Views are incredible from every window and you feel so at peace.

We had fun activities on the books – dinner at zing zing restaurant, day excursion to Trafalgar Waterfalls and the caves, local lunch, dinner at Keepin’ it Real, a boat ride, a lovely vegan lunch at the garden, an incredible outdoor massage and a bonfire dinner on the beach. The food is incredible!!! So creative, fresh and delicious. I am a vegetarian … except for when I am close to water that can supply fresh seafood 🙂 I had lobster at almost every meal and OMG delish!! I also totally appreciated the wellness and healthy options along with mocktails! I don’t drink alcohol and to be able to have a thoughtful mocktail list available is so awesome. So many activities to enjoy and so many peaceful moments to be had at the hotel as well. The pool and beach area is boutique and serene. There are pathways to walk around the property and yoga platforms all around. The food is unbelievable and the overall vibe is really special. The owners are so kind, cool and creative. Their story sets the tone of the hotel and it shows.

Dominica is the nature island with so much adventure. So many unique features about this special place. It is a must!! I am totally Down for Dominica, you should be too xx
